Government Technology Solutions (GvTechSolutions) and Trend Micro Announce Award of Contract for Antivirus Solutions for Defense Department and Coast Guard Worldwide Network Security Leaders Win Five-Year Contract to Provide Server-Based Protection For US Defense Agencies Shingle Springs, Calif. – September 19, 2002 – Government Technology Solutions, Inc., (GvTechSolutions) has announced that they have been awarded a five-year contract to provide server-based antivirus solutions for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), which includes the Department of Defense (DOD) and the US Coast Guard. GvTechSolutions has partnered with Trend Micro, Inc. (Nasdaq: TMIC; TSE: 4704), a worldwide leader in network antivirus and Internet content security solutions to win the contract. “As a major provider of security solutions to Department of Defense users worldwide, we recommend only Trend Micro antivirus solutions,” said Robert Deitz II, president of Government Technology Solutions, Inc. “We have worked with Trend Micro to build a long and productive relationship with the Department of Defense and see this contract award as validation for those efforts.” “Trend Micro is honored to enhance our partnership with the Department of Defense and the Coast Guard by providing our multi-layered ‘best of breed’ products and award-winning support,” said Mike Lisi, vice president, government and enterprise sales for Trend Micro. “As the global leader in server-based antivirus and content security solutions*, we recognize the increasing importance of stopping email- and network-based viruses at the server before they ever reach a desktop computer, a key to DISA’s Enterprise Antivirus Software Initiative.” Under the terms of the five-year contract, GvTechSolutions will provide Trend’s server-based antivirus software including InterScan Virus Wall for NT/2000, Solaris and Linux platforms; Scan Mail for Microsoft Exchange for NT/2000; Trend Micro Control Manager; Premium Support Program, and customer training. In addition, PC-Cillin for Wireless was selected to protect Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). Although this is the first time GvTechSolutions has been awarded a portion of the DISA contract, the company already provides antivirus protection to approximately one million Department of Defense users. Trend Micro is also working closely with the Department of Defense to attain National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) certification on a number of its products. NIAP is a U.S. government initiative designed to promote the development of technically sound security requirements for IT products and systems and appropriate metrics for evaluating them. It is intended to ensure that Trend’s products are held to a high standard of utility and security, sufficient for use in the U.S. Department of Defense, and in all federal and state government applications.
